About HEIC To GIF Converter Online

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default camera format, using HEVC compression to achieve roughly half the file size of JPEG at the same perceptual quality. It supports multiple images, transparency, and Live Photos. Outside Apple ecosystems, HEIC has limited native support.

Converting to GIF is useful when you need a simple animation or a graphic with a limited colour palette that must work in older environments. For full-colour photographs, GIF's 256-colour limit will cause visible quality loss.

This tool converts your HEIC images to GIF directly in the browser. Upload your file, choose a quality preset if available, and download the converted result instantly.

How to use this tool

How to convert HEIC to GIF

  1. Upload your HEIC file

Click the upload area or drag a HEIC image. The tool processes files locally.

  2. Convert

Press the Convert button. Sharp decodes the HEIC and outputs a static GIF. GIF is limited to a 256-color palette, so photographic images will show visible color reduction.

  3. Check the output

Click Download to save the .gif file. Review the thumbnail first — color banding and dithering artifacts are expected when converting continuous-tone images to GIF's restricted palette.

  4. When to use GIF

GIF is best for simple flat-color graphics, icons, or thumbnails where broad compatibility is required. For photos, PNG or WebP will produce far better quality. This tool outputs static GIFs only.
