About JPEG To GIF Converter Online
JPEG is the most universally supported photo format. Its adjustable lossy compression produces small, web-ready files. Every browser, operating system, camera, and app reads JPEG. It does not support transparency.
Converting to GIF is useful when you need a simple animation or a graphic with a limited colour palette that must work in older environments. For full-colour photographs, GIF's 256-colour limit will cause visible quality loss.
This tool converts your JPEG images to GIF directly in the browser. Upload your file, choose a quality preset if available, and download the converted result instantly.
How to use this tool
How to convert JPEG to GIF
Upload your JPEG file
Click the upload area or drag a JPEG image. The tool processes files locally.
Convert
Press the Convert button. Sharp decodes the JPEG and outputs a static GIF. GIF is limited to a 256-color palette, so photographic images will show visible color reduction.
Check the output
Click Download to save the .gif file. Review the thumbnail first — color banding and dithering artifacts are expected when converting continuous-tone images to GIF's restricted palette.
When to use GIF
GIF is best for simple flat-color graphics, icons, or thumbnails where broad compatibility is required. For photos, PNG or WebP will produce far better quality. This tool outputs static GIFs only.
