What this tool does

Compress an image to a target size takes your picture and re-encodes it on the server so the result lands at or under the size you ask for. You choose the ceiling in kilobytes and the output format, press Run, and download a smaller image—no app to install and nothing kept afterward.

How it reaches your target

The tool binary-searches the JPEG or WebP quality at full resolution to find the highest quality that still fits your target. If even the lowest quality is too big, it progressively downscales the image in steps and tries again, so a very large photo still comes down to size. It returns the highest quality that fits, so you lose as little detail as possible.

Supported formats and limits

Input images up to 12 MB are accepted, and the target may be set from 5 KB to 10000 KB. Output is JPEG (best for photos) or WebP (usually smaller for the same quality). PNG is not a target format here, because PNG does not compress by quality—use JPEG or WebP when you need to hit a specific size.

What you get back

You receive a single downloadable image in the format you chose, already re-encoded to meet the target. The original is never modified—only a new, smaller copy is produced for you to save.
