About PDF Split Online

This tool extracts pages from a PDF and saves them as separate files. You can split every page into its own PDF, extract a range of pages, or pick specific page numbers to export.

Splitting is useful when you receive a multi-page PDF but only need certain sections — for example, extracting the signature page from a contract, or pulling a single chapter from a combined report.

The original PDF is not modified. Each extracted page or range is delivered as a new PDF download.

How to use this tool

How to split a PDF into per-page or per-range files

  1. Upload the PDF

Drop the source PDF into the "PDF" field. Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked first (try `pdf-unlock-online`) — the splitter only operates on PDFs you can already read.

  2. Pick the ranges

"Ranges" accepts comma-separated descriptors: `1,3,5-7` extracts pages 1, 3, and 5-7 as separate output files; `1-3` extracts a single 3-page file; empty defaults to one file per page.

  3. Press Run

Result returns a single `zip` URL (or an array of PDFs depending on your platform). Each output PDF preserves the source's fonts, images, and bookmarks within range — no re-rendering, so quality is identical.

  4. When splitting fails

Some "PDFs" exported by scanners are actually OCR'd image bundles; splitting works but optional metadata may be missing. PDFs encrypted with owner passwords (printing/copy restrictions) need an unlock first — owner passwords aren't the same as user passwords.
