What this tool does

PDF watermark stamps a line of text over every page of your document and returns a new, watermarked PDF. It is perfect for labelling a file as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or SAMPLE, or for adding an ownership and copyright notice. The watermark is drawn as a semi-transparent overlay, so the text underneath stays readable while the label is clearly visible on the page and in any printout.

Options you control

Set the watermark text, the font size, and a color given as a hex value such as #FF0000. Choose the opacity from 0 to 100 percent to make the mark faint or bold, and a rotation angle like 45° for the classic diagonal look. The position option places the text in the center of each page, tiled repeatedly across the whole page, or on a single diagonal line corner to corner.

When to use it

Mark early versions as drafts so no one mistakes them for final. Stamp confidential documents before sharing them with a limited audience. Assert ownership or copyright on files you distribute, or label preview copies as samples so they are not passed off as the paid version. Because the label sits on every page, it survives when someone screenshots or prints a single sheet.

Runs on the server

The watermark is applied on our server, so there is nothing to install and it works the same on any device or browser. Your text is written directly into the page content of a fresh PDF; the original file you uploaded is never changed.
