What this tool does
QR code reader shows you what is inside a QR code. Scan it live with your phone or laptop camera, or upload a picture of it, and you get the content as plain text you can read and copy.
What it recognizes
The tool labels the most common kinds of content: links, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS, Wi-Fi details, contact cards, locations and plain text. For a Wi-Fi code, it shows the network name and password separately so you can copy them.
Privacy
Reading happens entirely in your browser. Your images and camera video are not sent to our servers or stored. The camera only turns on when you press the start button, and it turns off as soon as a code is read.
Be careful with links
Nothing opens by itself. A QR code can hide a misleading address, so the tool shows you the full link first and leaves the decision to you.
How to use this tool
Scan with your camera
Open the Scan with camera tab and press Start camera.
Allow camera access when your browser asks.
Point the camera at the QR code and hold it steady. It is read automatically and the camera stops.
Read an image
Open the Upload image tab.
Choose a file, drop it on the box, or paste a screenshot. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and SVG all work.
Read the result. Copy the content, or open it if it is a link, email address or phone number.
Tips
- Use good light and keep the whole code in the frame.
- Crop busy images so the code fills most of the picture. The tool reads one code per image.
- If the camera is blocked, allow it in your browser’s site settings, or upload a photo instead.
