How to look up domain registration info via WHOIS

1. Enter the domain

   "Domain" expects an apex domain like `example.com` — no `https://`, no path, no `www.`. Subdomains aren't separately registered, so a WHOIS lookup on `blog.example.com` returns the record for `example.com`.

2. Press Run

   Result returns a single `whois` field — the raw text response from the appropriate WHOIS server for the TLD. Expect blocks like Registrar, Creation Date, Updated Date, Expiry Date, name servers, and registrar contact.

3. What's behind redactions

   Since GDPR (2018), most personal details on contacts are masked with privacy or replaced by registrar-controlled aliases. To reach the actual registrant you'd need to go through the registrar's official abuse-contact channel — public WHOIS isn't enough.

4. Reading the dates

   Expiry date matters most — a domain expiring within 90 days might be unstable. Updated Date isn't a transfer date; it's just "this record was touched". Creation Date can hint at domain age, useful for trust signals.
